Mobile Junk and Nature Playground clients sharing their experiences

"It stimulated discussion among educators about ways we could incorporate loose parts and natural elements into both the indoor and outdoor environments"
Since the junk and nature playground came there has been a change in the attitude and approach of the educators in relation to nature play, with a deeper understanding of the benefits of emergent curriculum, risky play and natural play tools.  The best thing about the session was the message and the way it was delivered to the children, right at their level. It stimulated discussion among educators about ways we could incorporate loose parts and natural elements into both the indoor and outdoor environments .  The most important aspect of the service was the interactions with children, encouraging all to join in. I have recommended the service to other educators/teachers and services.

[Mobile Junk and Nature Playground] provides an important opportunity to children to explore with some risk, which is an important component of learning new skills and independence.
It was clear that risk assessment had been done when considering the equipment…..the session allowed children the opportunity to explore a range of different objects that can be so easily accessed outside of the sessions, meaning that they can continue loose parts play outside of the session with new ideas of what 'toys' look like. It was also great to be able to support children's creativity and ideas, as well as seeing problem solving and team work in a range of the different activities. As children developed new skills within their play they then showed leadership skills by passing them on and teaching new players to the game…. In experiences such as this children develop a range of important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, creativity, problem solving as well as getting close connection to nature that can be difficult to come by in the modern day.   The session showcased how learning can look different to the classroom experience yet be so powerful to teaching staff and parents that were involved. Anyone in education would benefit seeing and experiencing this type of play and learning.
Keep up the great work spreading the word about the huge range of benefits of sustainable, loose parts play.

"The knowledge and experience shared during the session gives families the confidence to trust their children to take greater risks in exploring the natural environment"

Having taken part in several of mobile junk and nature playground sessions at community events with my own children, I had great confidence in their session and no hesitation in planning a session for our preschool's community birthday celebration. I feel the sessions have provoked the thinking of educators on how they can re-use and recycle a variety of things to create new learning resources and experiences. The best thing about the session is having Glenn's extensive knowledge and experience at hand during the session, and learning about how easy it can be to use a variety of junk and natural materials to create a play space for children. I would absolutely recommend this service to other preschool, JP school, playgroups or community events involving children. Glenn was very accommodating and altered the session in response to the children's voice and questioning. The knowledge and experience shared during the session gives families the confidence to trust their children to take greater risks in exploring the natural environment. Thanks mobile junk and nature playground for showing our families how easily they can get their kids back out into nature.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for your wonderful mobile junk play session with our children yesterday. Although it was my day off and unfortunately I didn't get to see it first hand the feedback from our educators and the children was fantastic. The staff commented that you were very engaging with the children and set up wonderful experiences to explore.
Each invitation to play area offered the children so many fun learning opportunities- some favourites were the mud play, recycled drums, cubby building, long black tubes, grinding blocks and the water wall. You really ignited the children's curiosity and motivated our staff team to source more local recycled elements into our environments.
We look forward to booking another session with you.
